3 Botanical Beauties

This week I wanted to talk about botanical beauties and the brands behind them. Botanicals are extracts from plants, flowers, herbs, nuts, seeds, roots and berries and made into oils, face mists and other botanical beauties.
They have been used in beauty regimes for centuries, even Cleopatra used black cumin seed oil as a beauty treatment. You may not be familiar with the term, but most of our natural and organic beauty brands use botanicals in their products, they help with calming, clearing, hydrating and purifying the skin. Plants like the Melaleuca alternifolia or ‘Tea Tree’ is commonly used in many anti-blemish face washes, masks, mists and also anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner. This superfood plant gets its superpower from the oil in its leaves. I have a tea tree back spray which I use on my back (duh!), which I make up myself (link to come) to clear my back of blemishes from my sweaty jogs down the beach or at home workouts.

These are three of my favourite beauty brands that I’m using at the moment that have botanical ingredients in them.

Aromatherapy’s Revive Gel, 200ml

Made with juniper berry, rosemary and neroli essential oils, the gel absorbed into your skin and smooths out any uneven textures and helps to clarify and detoxify the skin. I had this sitting in a box full of goodies that I won at Vogue from a raffle I never thought I’d win and I thought it was shower gel before I read the label properly! I wear high-waisted jeans/trousers daily so the belt tends to rub against my back and leaves it quite dry so I prep my skin every morning and night and it’s shocked me how soft my skin is a few seconds later. Besides drinking PLENTY of water, I think hydration is important to put on your body as well as in and I’d recommend this for not only its relaxing properties but also how this product can genuinely revitalising your skin. Give it a try, its full of natural ingredients, what have you got to lose?

Dr Botanical’s Moroccan Superfood Facial Oil 30ml

Possibly one of the sweetest smelling facial oils I’ve ever put on my skin. It is a super light facial oil, it feels more like water between your fingers (I squeeze three drops onto my fingers and dab under my eyes and on my neck. I like to put this on before my moisturiser and at night during my evening routine. This little gem was in my Christmas beauty box from LookFantastic and I highly enjoyed how much natural beauty products they had in their for me to try.

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist 100ml

This natural beauty mist is packed with purifying ingredients such as orange blossom, rose and sage waters. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist contains skin balancing minerals that is built in with their ‘healing concentrate‘, a journey that has fortified their reputation as a natural and organic worldwide beauty brand. I apply this mist when my skin is feeling particularly thirsty, and spray between makeup applications and throughout the day if I’m having a makeup-free day and need some hydration.

All the products’ full list of ingredients can be viewed through each of their links in their titles. Please do read the ingredients on the beauty products you use, whether its shampoo or lip balm, it’s important to know why we get these ‘breakouts’ or ‘redness’ or anything other than clear skin. Question what you are also putting in your bodies too- make a food diary, a beauty one too and understand how your everyday routine could be a root cause.
