Besides being voted 3 years running as one of the happiest places to live in Britain and beating Paris and Vienna as the world’s most romantic destinations by Secret Escapes, Harrogate was on my list of places to explore for 2018.
I’d never been to Harrogate and more embarrassingly I’ve never had afternoon tea at Betty’s! (Awful, I know!) I knew I needed to stay in the town center and had been recommended The White Hart Hotel by a friend so I took the opportunity to prove them right and booked my stay.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a helpful and polite lady who checked me into my double room, and to my surprise, I’d been upgraded to their four poster bedroom! What a treat!
After my 4 hour journey, I was happy to put my bags down in such a warm, welcoming hotel and kick my shoes off on the comfiest mattress I’ve ever slept on!
The room was spacious and included a modern bathroom, four poster bed, two armchairs, a flatscreen TV and a desk and mirror so I could comfortably do my makeup in the morning!
I also noticed how they even had cotton wool buds in the bathroom- I thought this was a nice touch.
During the afternoon, I walked 2 minutes through cobbled streets and the most gorgeous architecture into the town center to explore and find the famous Betty’s tearooms.
Known as a spa town for its healing wells, Harrogate decided to surprise me further with its abundance of vintage stores. From beautiful 1920s desks to Victorian afternoon tea sets, I was in interior decor heaven!
After lusting over MANY incredible pieces of furniture and fashion, I made my way back to The White Hart for a meal at their bar located on the ground floor. Decorated with a row of 1920s style lamps, chestnut nut wood panels, and leatherback seating areas, the bar, which also catered a variety of vegan, meat and pescatarian dishes, was the perfect end to a day of exploring.
The following morning I sat down for my breakfast in their dining room and helped myself to yogurt, homemade granola, fruit and juices before ordering my vegan sausage bap from my friendly waiter. Also! Yorkshire and famous for their tea which dare I say was one of the best teas I’ve ever tasted? I shall!
The White Hart Hotel is a beautiful and professional hotel to stay at, with an onsite bar, restaurant, and hairdresser, they are also in a great location in the heart of Harrogate town.
ThisR staff were always helpful and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I have to travel to Harrogate again soon and will be booking with them again.
One night: Approx £54 for a double room with breakfast included.
